Secret of getting off the line fast in hot GTO was to avoid breakaway of rear wheels. This required feathering until car just began to roll, then sticking your foot in it.


GTO held crew and its test equipment with good deal of elbow and leg room to spare.

Chromed rocker covers and air cleaner (not shown) give little warning of what's inside.


Drawings show how heads have been re-cored for '65 to remove restrictions and abrupt changes in cross section. Heads and valves are same for both "389" and "421" mills.
